The Giver Review

The Book:

Have you ever felt like you are in control, then the boss comes in and you have to listen and do what they say. Well thats what “The Giver” is like.

“The Giver” is a book written by Lois Lowry. Its story starts with a young boy turning the age of twelve. Every twelve year old is assigned a job, but the boy is different than the others. The boy is selected for the most honorable position in the district. The boy has the power to see beyond and is given memories no one else can have. Later in the story the boy finds out the truth, realizing no one has real freedom. So the boy makes a decision that could lead to either life or death.

The book has an extraordinary story. There are countless themes shown throughout the story but most notably freedom and emotion. The book has a controversial subject on whether it should be considered a book that a young audience should read or an older audience. Overall, the book is an excellent choice and I enjoyed it a lot.

The Movie:

The movie is really good and interesting. There are a lot of things that are different in the movie than the book. Overall, the movie is a great watch after you read the book.
